What is the Uyghur Genocide?
The Uyghurs are a Turkic ethnic group, where the majority are Muslim. On maps, their homeland is Xinjiang, China (formerly known as East Turkestan). Many Uyghurs still refer to East Turkestan as their homeland. Currently, Uyghurs are being detained into internment camps because of their religious beliefs and culture; over one million Uyghur people have been detained thus far. Other Turkic groups, such as the Kyrgyz and Kazakhs are also being persecuted and detained.

Within these internment camps, Uyghurs are forced to deny their religion and culture while being politically indoctrinated and psychologically abused. They are also sterilized, physically exploited, and forced to work in horrible conditions. The Chinese government calls the internment camps "re-education" camps and will not take responsibility for the human rights abuses occurring within. There are countless images, first-hand accounts, and articles proving the reality of these horrors.
